Wild Bloodlines (Chapter 1)

Avery wakes up from a nightmare. She felt her body was sweating and her head was dizzy. She then leaves her room and goes down to the kitchen, looking for her older sister. “Kate?” Avery said it weakly. Kate, who was in her room, heard it and went down to the kitchen. "Oh, you're awake, Avery. What's wrong with you? You look sick." Kate asked Avery. "I'm having a fever." Kate was surprised, then she put her hand into Avery's forehead. "What's wrong with you, Avery? Why did you have a fever this morning? Kate asks Avery. Avery was really sick. Her head was dizzy. Avery didn't say any words because of it.  "Avery? Are you okay?" Kate's hand was still on her forehead. Avery starts sweating a lot, and her body feels warm. "I think you should go back to your room. You must take a rest."

Avery then goes back to her room, closes the door, and takes a rest in her bed. A few minutes later, Kate was knocking on the door of Avery's room and opening the door by herself. She's making her a hot tea, and also brought an ice cube. "Here , Avery. Drink this tea and you'll be fine." And then she put the ice cube pack on Avery's forehead and took Avery to bed. "Avery, If you weren't feeling better, just call me in time. Because I'm the only one who cares for you right now. Dad and mom are out. So this is my work to take care of you." Avery then nods and tries to close her eyes. "Anyway, have a good night." She gives her a little kiss before sleeping, and turns off the lamp, and closes the door.

Avery is already asleep. Kate goes back down the steps and goes to the kitchen. With her phone in her pocket, She's been calling Avery's teacher, Mrs. Roger. but it seems Mrs. Roger didn't answer it. "Come on... Mrs. Roger. I need your help." After a long time, Mrs. Roger finally answers Kate's call. "Hello? Who is this? It's already midnight. Why does someone call me this time?" It's Mrs. Roger's voice. Her voice tone feels like she's been disturbed by her phone's ringing. "Hello, ma'am. I'm Kate. I'm Avery's sister. I just want to inform you that Avery had a fever today. So, she cannot go to school tomorrow. Can she be taken off from school for a moment? I need your answer, ma'am." After that, Mrs. Roger answered her. "No." Kate replied to her answer. "No? What do you mean, ma'am? Why no?" Kate seems confused by Mrs. Roger's answer. But she still wants her to answer her call more. "Just, no." She replied again. And then Mrs. Roger ended the phone call. Kate was trying to answer her back. But Mrs. Roger blocked her phone number. After hours of not getting called back. Kate refuses to call her again, and turns off the kitchen light, and sleeps in her own room with her phone still turned on. Kate, who was still busy folding clothes, accidentally heard a growl coming from Avery's room. She opened the door and found Avery was hurt by her own fever. Feeling sorry for her, Kate slept on Avery's right side and hugged her. Later, Avery stops growling and feels the warmth of Kate's hug. She smiles a bit, and both of them are sleeping peacefully together.
